A notebook that has really cheered up my afternoon! The cover is so soft, pages have a good weight and really nicely bound. The little red dragonflies on the page edge is such a pretty design and with a lovely colour scheme. This is the second item I've had from this company.
The design is gorgeous. The beautiful endpapers really lend a sense of elegance. The cover is soft and flexible and sturdy. The notebook lies flat when opened which is nice, and if you wanted you can also fold it in half for easier note taking. I appreciate the numbered pages and the index in the front. Overall I think the quality is quite nice and it seems to have been designed quite thoughtfully
The ZenArt journal is exactly what I was hoping for in creating zentangle art. I love the fact it has a Z on the cover. The feel of the faux leather is wonderful and enhances the quality IMO. The dragonfly details on the end pages and page edges are a nice touch, too. This feels like a substantial and quality journal.

Frequently Asked Questions
A dotted journal is suitable for bullet journaling – a method of personal organization developed by Ryder Carroll. The method organizes schedules, to-do lists, significant events, milestones and other organizational tasks in a single journal.
However, our dotted journal is designed in an open-minded way, to allow you to choose which system to use (or not). Having four index pages and numbers on each page, continuous lines of dots across the pages, you can express yourself creatively.
Good question! Our Modernista series dotted journals are pure joy for your aesthetical and organizing buds. They are all designed by our co-founder Ardak Kassenova, and are very unique. Each of them has a splash of color inside and outside, and even on the edges. The traditional Japanese design on the edges and end-papers, unique for each journal color-variation, has a positive meaning, and is a metaphor and our good wish to you.
Designed to make organizing on-the-go easier, each dotted journal is meticulously handcrafted using recyclable materials, with perfectly aligned dotted grids (5mm spacing) across both pages, and no lines to ruin your bullets but small dots to help you organize. Our dotted journal also features a 180° lay-flat spine that stays open so you can organize at ease.
This paper is amazing! Our latest journals have thicker paper of 120 gsm – as many of you requested. It has the same satin-smooth surface, it's acid-free, FSC certified, ink-proof and won't create feathering if you use a fountain pen, or similar. Each journal has 160 pages or 80 sheets of dotted ivory paper that won't reflect light in your eyes in the way ordinary white papers might.
Acid-free means that the pH level of the paper is 7.0 (neutral) or higher (alkaline). In general, acid-free papers are expected to last for decades under normal storage conditions. Don't worry; it's still biodegradable.
FSC is an acronym for the Forest Stewardship Council®, which is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. The FSC system provides an assurance that products such as wood and paper have been harvested in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
Our journals are encased in a vivid-colored faux leather-bound cover that is soft and smooth, scratch-resistant, flexible and vegan.
Our journals are perfect for daily journaling, art journaling and daily planning. The 120 gsm acid-free paper is durable enough for ink, markers, glue and sticky tapes, rough erasing, shading or art journaling. Your options are endless. You can consider journaling ideas as therapy .

The paper is thicker than moleskin so there is only minimal ghosting. However, it isn’t as smooth as I would like. Please keep in mind that I am incredibly picky about my journals and I am definitely using this one.
Love these journals. Easy to use for bullet journaling but I use for other purposes as well. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is I have had two elastic breaks out of the six in various colors I have ordered prior to this. Hoping they have fixed that quality issue with my latest batch. No bleed thru, pleasing paper color, soft suede-y feel cover in great shades. What’s not to love!?!

Pretty color (teal) and binding seems to be holding up after a few months of use. Wish there was a bit more room for expansion in the binding, though, because I like to put lots of sticky notes on the pages, but at least the elastic holds it all together. As others have noted, the pages are a bit thin, so I have to write quickly with anything other than a pencil to avoid bleeding through. So, depends on what you're using the journal for. Weight-wise, the thin pages are kinda nice. The one weird complaint I have is that this notebook was super STINKY right out of the package. Like, I left it hanging over a clothes hanger in an unused room for over a month before I used it, and it still didn't smell pleasant for another month. 4 months later, the smell is gone.I went ahead and kept it, since I really needed something to start my 2021 bullet journal/planner, and wanted to avoid going into stores around Christmastime. Overall I'm glad I did, and it has been working pretty well, but it has room for improvement.
Love their journals! I have three different colors now. Wonderful customer service too.
Love the size of it and the soft cover. I was making a journal for my mom and the original package came damaged. I contacted their customer service and they sent a replacement out right away! I definitely recommend ZenArt and their customer service is great!
Lovely! I had somehow missed that it was soft cover but it is pretty sturdy anyhow! The turquoise color is just gorgeous and the paper is really nice.

It came with a band that exemplified the stylish design of the rest of the journal and came easily off without tearing. Additionally there's a VERY nice holding pocket in the back for special documents, cards, and other neat stuff. The owner of the brand included a special note from herself, along with a card to show where you could go to learn more and connect with other artists using the brand. Even before I had the chance to use the journal I got a message from the owner about how another artist used the journal and welcoming me to the brand. I had a hard time deciding how best to use such a lovely journal, so I tested a set of metallic watercolors and metallic goauche I'd wanted to try. The paper took EXTREMELY well, and leaked to the other side very little. I won't knock its leakage of the watercolor since that's not really what bullet journals are for and I just wanted to try it, haha. The paper itself is extremely soft and holds the pencil that I put into the rest of it perfectly. Oh, I suppose I should mention I turned the journal into a tabletop role-play adventure journal. The grid lends itself perfectly to the boxes and organization needed for the game I play, but doesn't get in the way for the drawings of the character and his mount that I decided to go with. I don't know yet what I'll put in that awesome pocket, but I know I'd love to put it to use. The journal cover itself is also very soft and luxurious. The edging is very cool, it's foxes. Did I mention I love special edging in journals and books? Anyway, I had a very good time with this journal so far and I expect much more fun in the future.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is my first time using a B5 sized bullet journal. I usually use the A5 size, so I was curious to see how it would compare to what I'm used to. Design wise, I like the feel of the cover and the turquoise color. I think the stenciled edges are really unique and make it stand out from other bullet journals. And the design on the end pages being the inverse pattern from the stenciled edges is a nice touch. It is a decent size with 154 numbered pages. The large pages fit a lot more information than the A5 sized pages. The page thickness is comparable to those of a Leuchtturm 1917. I did a pen test and found that there was ghosting but no bleed through on the opposite side of the page. I tested Tombow brush pens, mildliners, sakura gelly rolls, pigma archival ink pens, papermate flairs and gel pens, as these are the pens I mainly use when I bullet journal. I know that ghosting is a big issue for some. I've found that using washi tape, photos, stickers, and patterned paper can help to combat that and make the page more decorative. My overall impression is that this journal is unique and has a nice quality but the pages could stand to be thicker. I think this journal will work well for standard bullet journalers and those who prefer minimalistic designs, as well as creative journalers who like to add in elements like those I mentioned above.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I think the book is fantastic for what I'm using it for, which is a notebook/journal to write down my lesson plans for the art classes I teach. It being a bullet journal is great because it allows me to build the layout/flow of a week's lesson on my own without being bound to the straight lines of a ruled notebook. I also love the look of this journal. The cover feels nice and buttery and the graphics along the pages side view are such a fun detail that makes me want to carry and show off this notebook everywhere. I can DEFINITELY see myself purchasing more of these in the future for my many long-form art projects. Also, I appreciate that the journal includes a table of contents that you can fill in yourself as well as page numbers and ribbons to keep your place. This will allow me to use the journal over time and to write different class lesson plans without getting mixed up!!! I have never used a journal that has all of these features.
