I've really enjoyed this sketchbook over the last few months. I've been using it for line drawings and Zentangles as the thickness and smoothness of the paper lends itself nicely to that task. I love the cover material much more than a traditional leather or paper cover, it's sturdy and wipes off easily. The sheets are thick enough, but a bit thicker like 165gsm would be nice too.
I took an art class in college a long time ago and loved it. Now, I am 50 and want to start playing around with art again. I was looking for a smaller sketchbook. It's perfect! The softcover is quite flexible and durable, not to mention attractive. I find I don't mind that it's not a hardcover. This is comfortable to sketch in, and portable enough to take with me on travels. The best part is the quality of the paper! Just wow! Great value!
Have been using this sketchbook for 7 months now. As an artist, I go through lots and lots of journals- paint in them, sketch, glue photos, etc. This journal is so so durable and great for the price, protects all my pages and the quality of paper is great...will be purchasing again :)

Frequently Asked Questions
Good question! Our sketchbooks are designed by artists for artists. Each sketchbook is meticulously handcrafted using recyclable materials, folded, hand-stitched, and glued together to form a hard-wearing notebook with a scratch-resistant wipeable cover and 180° lay-flat spine that stays open so you can work at ease. You can customize the cover and inner end-pages using acrylic paint or markers. The stylish design with the edge printing is very attractive and can be used as is or colored with your watercolors to create a unique pattern. There's a maximum possibility to express yourself with this neutral stylish design.
Our smooth 120 gsm acid-free paper is of archival quality and can withstand lots of sketching, erasing, sticking and re-attaching with sellotape or washi tape. Each sketchbook has 160 pages or 80 sheets of blank light ivory paper that is kind to your eyes, and won't reflect light to your eyes in the way ordinary white paper might.
Acid-free means that the pH level of the paper is 7.0 (neutral) or higher (alkaline). In general, acid-free papers are expected to last for decades under normal storage conditions. Don't worry; it's still biodegradable.
Our sketchbooks are encased in a durable engineered leather cover that is scratch-resistant, protecting your work from elements. You can easily customize the cover using acrylic paint or markers and make it truly your own.
It depends on your needs. If you plan on bringing the sketchbook around, while travelling, during the daily commute or to capture urban scenes on the go then opt for a B6 (5x7 inches) that you can easily fit in your purse. If you intend to work on a table at home or in your studio where you can sketch with your sketchbook laid flat, or if you tend to create bigger artwork, then we recommend you get a B5 (7x10 inches).
However, most of our customers find B5 very compact and ‘just right' size for carrying it around, too.
Our sketchbooks are perfect for sketching, art journaling and keeping your creative ideas & notes! The acid-free paper is durable enough for light watercolours, ink, markers, glue and sticky tapes for collages, rough erasing and shading. Your options are endless. Customer ReviewsWrite a review
This sketchbook has nice smooth pages and it's nice for just plain ink sketching, but it doesn't hold a watercolor wash very well at all. Maybe if the wash was super light, very little water. Like a few strokes as an accent here and there would work, but I tried some regular wet on dry washes and the pages buckled quite a lot. Now I just use it for sketching and practicing different techniques - the "page feel" is really nice, with my pigma pens. The pen slides along the page with an easy, silky feel, the ink is drawn in well, low bleed, no feathering. I had hoped it would stand up to a wash a little better but it's a nice sketchbook for practice and just playing around in.
I have been a professional artist for more than 30 years and recently purchased ZenART Supplies’ sketchbook. This was not the first thing I've purchased from this online company and, as usual, I am more than impressed with the quality for the price. This sketchbook has a wonderfully textured PU Lether cover that is heavy enough to protect the pages within. The playful spots that dot the cover and the three exposed sides make the whole process of carrying and using the sketchbook even more fun. Now, we come to the most important part of a sketchbook, the paper. This paper is heavy, 120 gsm, and a light cream that did not affect my work at all. I made a sketch with graphite and loved the way the pencil slid across the smooth paper. It erased really well and I was able to draw and erase (with a rubber eraser) over and over with no damage to the paper. Then I tried a variety of Micron pens, a Prismacolor marker, Sharpies, gel pens and colored ink pens. While I had some bleed through with the Prismacolor marker, it was a brush style marker - I used the big end - and the color was Brick Red. I expected the saturation of ink would leave something behind. It doesn’t matter - everything else I tried worked fine. Including watercolor pencils.I sketched a simple idea of a vase and orchids and covered the paper with watercolor pencils. Then I used a wet, thirsty brush and created watercolor washes from them. The paper did not bleed through. The pages curled a little on the corners but I was able to gently turn them back down. This sketchbook comes with two ribbons to mark your place and a back envelope perfect to hold reference photos. In addition to the sketchbook, I've purchased ZenART Supplies’ bullet journal - that I absolutely love - their Oil/Acrylic brushes and their Infinity Oil Paints. I will keep coming back to ZenART Supplies for my art supply needs. They offer exceptional quality for a great value.Oh, and I like the fact that a portion of my purchase goes to Art in All of Us (AiA), a UNICEF partner whose focus is to bring art to children around the world in an effort for them to share their experiences and come to understand each other.
This might not have a hardcover, but this journal is certainly not flimsy. Good quality paper, excellent cover, great price point, I need to but a couple more.
